JAMA New Awakening 2008 Conference Press Release

On June 29-July 2, 2008, over 6500 Christians (mostly of Korean-American descent), including many pastors, gathered together in Philadelphia, PA to humble themselves, repent of their own sins and the sins of this nation, and pray for the healing, restoration, revival, and renewal of America.

This gathering of Christians from across America – called the New Awakening (NA) conference (www.jamanewawakening.com) – was hosted and organized by Jesus Awakening Movement for America (JAMA) (www.jamaglobal.com), a movement based on 2 Chronicles 7:14.  This conference was a historical moment in this nation’s history because JAMA is unaware of any ethnic "minority" group (or groups) in America coming together on such a large scale to confess, repent and cry out for this nation’s revival.

Indeed, although many of the NA participants (and/or their parents) were not born in America, based on God’s created order and the participants’ status as co-heirs with Jesus Christ, God’s sovereign rule and dominion over all things, and His command to seek the peace and prosperity of the area in which Christians live and work, they have embraced this country into their heart of hearts and have adopted this nation as their own.

As a result, these participants came to the birthplace of America and its Constitution to pray that God would once again – as he did 150 years ago – send a spiritual awakening and revival on America.  And as a further expression and declaration of their spiritual "ownership" of this country, these participants adopted and signed the "Declaration of Dependence Upon God." We hope and pray that you will not only read the linked document, but that you will join JAMA in praying that our sovereign God would manifest the intents of this Declaration for His glory alone.

If you have any questions regarding the Declaration specifically or about JAMA in general, please e-mail national@jamaglobal.com.

Thank you,

John C. Kim, Ph.D.
