EM PASTORS TRACK DESCRIPTION

JNA08-Track-banner-empastors

The family. The church. The finance. The culture. The world. These are a few issues that pastors deal with in their congregations as they find biblical means and godly ways in dealing with these sensitive issues. It’s a continual tug-of-war that starts to wear and tear on a minister, whose passion is to shepherd a flock of sheep “acceptable to God and sanctified by the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:16)JNA08-TrackFlyers-EMpastors

The goal of Pastors Track at NA 2008 is to rejuvenate and fan that passion into a blazing fire once again. As the joys and pains take their toll in a developing ministry, pastors, as leaders, find mutual experiential understanding from their peers. This track aims to be a haven of solace for the weary minister. It will provide an opportunity to network, share resources, and receive powerful words of encouragement and conviction. Fellow pastors and leaders will share their stories and challenges they have faced and are facing while ministering to the divergent and rapidly growing multi-cultural English-speaking community. We will feature a special session with English-speaking Korean-American Pastors with various paradigms such as: "Completely Independent Church Plant"; "Independent But Sharing Facility with KM"; "Bilingual (Korean and English)". Through this time of support and challenge, this track hopes to empower our anointed ministers to continue the good work in the Lord.

“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.” (1 Peter 5:2-4)

Track 2: June 30, 2008
Time: 3:30-5:00 PM
Title: Spiritual Discipline
Speaker: Rev. Ed Kang, Gracepoint Fellowship Church, San Francisco, CA
“…Through endurance…” (Romans 15:4). Ministers, too, face life’s temptations and obstacles, needing encouragement in spiritual discipline to endure these dark and rocky paths. Reverend Ed Kang will share his personal journey of how he was called to be a minister. God led him on a journey he never imagined when his semi-delinquent life took a turn after he became a Christian at the age of 15. The only son of immigrant parents from Korea, he graduated from UC Berkeley and attended its law school, Boalt Hall. However, he eventually left his law career to become a pastor.
Track 3: July 1, 2008
Time: 1:30-3:00 PM
Combined track session (college & above)
Title: How the Supremacy of Christ Creates Radical Christian Sacrifice
Speaker: Dr. John Piper, Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis, MN
How does the supremacy of Christ create radical Christian sacrifice? For the answer, we’ll look at a sequence of passages in the New Testament book of Hebrews. But for us to see the answer, we will need to ask: What is the “great reward,” and what is the “better resurrection,” and what is the joy set before us, and what is the “city that is to come”? The answer to all of these questions is the same: Their most ultimate meaning is that they refer to the infinite supremacy of Christ experienced with all-satisfying joy.
