New Awakening is JAMA’s national conference, the general purpose of which is three-fold:
- To mobilize God’s people to humble themselves, pray and seek God’s face in repentance of sin (2 Chronicles 7:14).
- To humbly ask the sovereign Lord to revive His people and bring reconciliation and renewal to this land (John 3:8, Psalm 85:6, Acts 4:31, Romans 12:1-2).
- To develop these participants as changing agents of Jesus Christ impacting mainstream America and the world for His glory (Zechariah 8:20-21, Matthew 28:19, Acts 26:16-18).
We desire to see in these gatherings the sovereign work of the Lord reviving the Church through prayer and biblical instruction (Psalm 19:7, Psalm 119:46), and to raise men and women with the prayerful faith of Jeremiah Lanphier, the plea of John Erskine, and the conviction of D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
Previous NA conferences have been held in Anaheim, Atlanta, Colorado Springs, Dallas, San Diego, and Washington, D.C. with speakers such as John Piper, Louie Giglio, Francis Chan, C.J. Mahaney, Os Guinness, Cornelius Plantinga, and Josh McDowell, and worship led by The David Crowder Band, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, delirious?, and Starfield.
JAMA stands for Jesus Awakening Movement for America/All Nations. It is a prayer and spiritual awakening movement based on 2 Chronicles 7:14 (and Zechariah 8:20-21) and birthed by the prayers of a handful of Korean-Americans who were burdened for America’s revival. Its mission is to bring Christians together in brokenness and prayer, awakening them to the horror of sin, the holiness of God, the backsliding and comfort-seeking of the Church, the centrality of the Word, the beauty of His grace, and the joy of a Christ-saturated life.
By repenting of our own and our nation’s sins (Nehemiah 1:6), JAMA is a movement praying that God would send His sovereign wind and release His revival and healing throughout this land, so that lives, families, churches, communities, cities, America, and the world can be reclaimed for Christ. We seek to do this primarily in four ways: our big national conference (New Awakening), our intercessory prayer conferences, our leadership development program (GLDI) and our ministry to working professions (JamaPro).
New Awakening conferences are for mobilizing God’s people to humble themselves, pray and seek God’s face in repentance of sin, humbly ask the sovereign Lord to revive His people and bring reconciliation and renewal to this land, and develop these participants as changing agents of Jesus Christ impacting mainstream America and the world for His glory.
JAMA Intercessory Prayer is the foundational element of JAMA. Its intent is to mobilize prayer warriors, challenging the young, old and all who are convicted in churches, businesses and campuses to call out to our Lord for revival in their land. JAMA Intercessory Prayer is for Korean-speaking only. For more information, please click here.
Global Leadership Development Institute (GLDI) is JAMA’s newest ministry. GLDI was created out of the desire to invest into the next generation by raising godly, creative leaders who will meet the unprecedented challenges of this world. To visit GLDI’s Web site, please click here.
JAMA Professionals (JamaPro) was birthed out of the desire to reclaim, revive, and redeem the marketplace for God. This ministry is focused on seeking God’s heart in all areas of our “working” life and equipping professionals to take spiritual ownership over their vocations (in the arts, media, entertainment, business, science, government, law, medicine, academia, the home, etc.) and be agents of change for Christ in their fields. New Awakening 2011 Theme:
EVEN NOW… (Joel 2:12-14)
“Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and have pity and leave behind a blessing– grain offerings and drink offerings for the LORD your God.
We believe it is time for us again to focus on prayer – prayers of repentance and healing, and prayers for revival. We believe, as He commanded in Joel 2:12-14, that “even now,” God is calling us to “return” to Him, and to do so on bended knees. And, if the Lord wills, we hope that such prayers would bring revival. Revival, according to D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, is when the “Holy Spirit comes down upon a number of people together, upon a whole church, upon a number of churches, districts, or perhaps a whole country.” Oh, do you not long for such an extraordinary outpouring of the Holy Spirit – where we are awakened to the holiness of God and the ugliness of our sin, where we are broken by His grace and the atoning work of His Son, and where we are compelled to truly love our neighbors, and seek the unreached with greater urgency? Dear friends, that is the cry of JAMA's heart.
We want to see what Jonathan Edwards saw in Northampton, Massachusetts in 1735: “This work [of the Holy Spirit] soon made a glorious alteration in the town. So that in the spring and summer following, the town seemed to be full of the presence of God. . . . There were remarkable tokens of God’s presence in almost every house. It was a time of joy in families on account of salvation being brought to them. Parents rejoicing over their children as newborn, husbands over their wives and wives over their husbands. The doings of God were then seen in His sanctuary. God’s day was a delight and the congregation was alive in God’s service. Everyone earnestly intent on the public worship. The assembly in general were from time to time in tears while the Word was preached. Some weeping with sorrow and distress, others with joy and love, others with pity and concern for the souls of their neighbors.” This is revival. And this is what JAMA desperately yearns for.

We have specifically targeted Philadelphia – the City of Brotherly Love – because, like many cities in the Northeast, it has a rich American and Christian history and strong academic presence, but, in many respects, has been overtaken by darkness and spiritual decay. In that regard, one of JAMA’s visions is to awaken Christians from their comfort zones and challenge them to directly engage in the cultural centers of this country – the cities (Jeremiah 29:4-7) – as transforming, healing, and intercessory agents for Christ.
